Revive Adserver v6.0.0 released
We’re proud to release version 6.0.0 of the Revive Adserver software.
Revive Adserver is now compatible with PHP 8.2-8.5. This version also contains many large and small changes, improving performance and ease of use, and a small security improvement.
Please continue reading these releases notes for the full details. We’ve also published a detailed Change Log.
Update December 5, 2025: see our blog post What’s new in Revive Adserver v6.0 for a more detailed story about the changes and improvements.
New features and functionality in this version
Version 6.0.0 of the Revive Adserver software contains a number of noteworthy additions:
- We added a loading animation when the next screen is taking some time to load, so that users are aware that the application is still working and a little patience is required.
- We added a new Mailer plugin, enabling the use of SMTP or a selection of 3rd party providers to send emails instead of relying on the server’s built-in mail sending service.
- We added an optional banner file size limit to the banners storage settings, which will help avoid accidentally uploading extremely large banner images.
Improvements and enhancements in this version
Some of the most noteworthy improvements and enhancements in this version:
- We optimized some database queries used in the statistics screens, resulting in faster response times on very large databases.
- We added support for writing to a fail2ban compatible log file on unsuccessful login attempts.
- We added a new Disable delivery cookies setting. For more information see: https://documentation.revive-adserver.com/display/DOCS/Third+party+cookies
- We added a warning message in the banner edit screen when non-HTTPS assets are used, which would cause the banner to be ineligeble for delivery on HTTPS pages.
Bugs fixed in this version
This version of Revive Adserver fixes a number of bugs, most importantly:
- We changed the OAGEO cookie from session cookie to permanent, with a 30m expiration time. This should allow refreshing geo information for mobile users on the move.
- We fixed an issue preventing webp banners from being displayed on Newsletter zones and when using Image Invocation Code.
- We fixed an issue with the search functionality being case-sensitive when using a Postgres database.
Non-Backward Compatible Changes
This version of Revive Adserver has a non-backward compatible change:
- Revive Adserver now requires at least PHP 8.1.
Security improvements
This version of Revive Adserver contains a fix for a very low risk security issue that was reported to us through our HackerOne program. We’ve posted a security advisory on this issue.
